The promise
What we mean by making time.
It is the first thing we say, so it should be the first thing we explain. AOI is not offering you a faster hour. It is offering a different relationship with the one you are already in.
A session is built to give some of that time back. People come out with attention, clarity and calm they did not walk in with, and the hours that follow have more room in them. Not time saved. Time made.
How the chamber does it is the surprising part: light surrounds the body from every side, the shadow the mind normally uses to track time disappears, and with it the usual sense of how long you have been in there. That is the mechanism, and it is explained below.
Time itself is not being altered. Making time describes an experience, and an intention within the AOI framework — not a claim about physics or medicine.
The idea
Explosion moves outward. Implosion moves inward.
Almost everything built for how you feel points outward — more input, more stimulation, more to do. AOI is built the other way.
The chamber removes the outward pull rather than adding to it. Light surrounds the body instead of arriving from one direction, sound is composed with it rather than laid over it, and attention turns in on itself. That inward turn is the whole idea, and the name.
What it is
What is AOI?
AOI — Art of Implosion — is a light-and-sound wellness technology, designed by AOI and built in Germany by a medical device manufacturer, with manufacturing certified to ISO 13485.
Precisely calibrated light and sound guide the body from a state of overload into deep restoration. It is built on multisensory integration: the brain responds more powerfully to synchronised light and sound together than to either alone.

What to expect
Nothing to do.
01
Step in
A private room and a dedicated environment. Nothing to prepare, nothing to understand beforehand.
02
Light and sound
Programmed light surrounds the body while the composition plays as part of the space rather than through it.
03
Come back
Fifteen minutes to an hour later you step out and rest for at least ten minutes somewhere quiet. What happened in there is yours.
Why now
Why the world needs AOI.
Modern life overloads the nervous system. People are more stressed, more depleted and more disconnected from their natural rhythm than ever — and conventional wellness rarely reaches the root.
Lost time
Time goes to work, to stress and to poor sleep. The hours you would spend on yourself are the first ones to disappear.
Chronic stress
Nearly four in ten adults worldwide — 37% — say they experienced significant stress the previous day, among the highest levels Gallup has recorded.
Poor sleep
An estimated 936 million adults aged 30–69 live with mild-to-severe obstructive sleep apnoea worldwide, and sleep disruption is far wider than that.
Slow recovery
Training, travel and daily load accumulate faster than the body clears them — a pattern wearables now make visible through HRV and resting heart rate.
Overstimulation
Constant input and almost no reset. Mood, focus and clarity all pay for it.
Stress: Gallup, Global Emotions. Sleep apnoea: Benjafield et al., The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, 2019. These describe the conditions AOI is designed for; they are not claims about what AOI treats.
The mechanism
Time, light and sound.
Time
Our key differentiator
Outside AOI, light comes from one direction and casts a shadow — for most of human history, that shadow was how we tracked time. Inside the chamber, light surrounds the body from every side. The shadow disappears, and with it the usual reference point the brain uses to locate itself in time and space. With less competing sensory information to process, attention turns inward, shadow collapses and with it, time collapses.
Making time.
Light
Full spectrum colour therapy
The full visible spectrum is engineered for a specific physiological effect, delivered together as one calibrated program to stimulate the mitochondria in cells, supporting energy, recovery, skin and other benefits.
Sound
Frequency-based regulation
Precisely designed frequencies shift the nervous system out of “fight or flight” toward a restorative parasympathetic state for enhanced wellness, performance and recovery.
Light and sound are the mechanism. Time is the differentiator.
Delivered together — including synchronised 40 Hz light and sound studied at MIT for attention and memory — multisensory stimulation engages broader neural networks than either alone.
The systems
Our machines.
The story behind AOI
A revelation, engineered.
Johny Dar has spent his life exploring human nature, consciousness and perception — through ancient healing traditions, art, fashion, geometry, music, light, sound and, ultimately, time.
He founded the global fashion house Dar Lin and scaled it past 1,300 stores worldwide. More than ten years of research into light and sound followed, and the convergence became AOI — the Art of Implosion. Today AOI runs in four cities: Berlin, Costa Rica, Ibiza and Dubai.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Is AOI a medical treatment?
No. AOI is an experiential wellness and lifestyle technology. It is not a medical device, it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease, and it does not replace appropriate medical or psychological care. CE certification is ongoing.
Who should not use AOI?
Do not use AOI if you have photosensitive epilepsy or a history of seizures triggered by light, or if flashing, flickering, dynamic or high-contrast visual stimulation is known to cause you significant symptoms. Do not begin a session during migraine aura, severe headache, acute dizziness, nausea or disorientation; during an active panic attack, or where severe claustrophobia makes safe use inappropriate; while alcohol, recreational drugs or medication significantly impair your perception, balance or reaction time; or whenever your physical or mental condition makes intensive sensory stimulation inappropriate.
What about psychiatric conditions?
AOI is not recommended for unsupervised use by anyone with a diagnosed psychiatric disorder unless the condition is stable and use has been discussed with their treating psychiatrist. It must not be used during an acute psychiatric state, including active psychosis, mania, severe dissociation, severe agitation or confusion, significant suicidal or self-harm risk, or any condition significantly affecting perception, judgement or the ability to use the chamber safely.
Who should take additional care?
Seek appropriate professional advice before your session if you are pregnant, have a neurological disease, have significant eye disease or recent eye surgery, take photosensitising medication, have an implanted or electronic medical device, or live with an unstable cardiovascular condition. The available AOI documentation does not establish universal protocols for these situations — when in doubt, speak to your physician or treating specialist first.
How should I prepare?
Arrive adequately hydrated; normal hydration is enough and excessive water is not required. Avoid a large or heavy meal immediately beforehand. Check how you feel on the day, and do not begin if you are significantly dizzy, nauseous, disoriented, acutely unwell, or in the middle of a migraine aura or severe headache. Do not come intoxicated or otherwise impaired.
Do I have to close my eyes?
It is your choice. Closed is advised, and especially so if your eyes are sensitive — an opaque eye mask or blackout goggles is provided and worn where the program calls for it. Never deliberately look into individual LEDs at close range: the manufacturer's instructions warn that direct close-range LED viewing may cause eye irritation or injury.
What should I do afterwards?
Do not rush out of the chamber. Give yourself a moment to reorient, and make sure you feel awake, know where you are, can stand comfortably and can walk normally. We recommend resting for at least ten minutes somewhere dark and quiet, and drinking water according to your normal needs. If a session leaves you emotionally heightened, unusually sensitive or irritable, give yourself extra time before driving or making important decisions.
How often should I come?
As often as suits you. There is no required cadence for a studio session — come when it fits your week, and let your own experience set the rhythm. It is worth noticing which time of day works for you: a session close to bedtime can feel stimulating, so leave more time before sleep, and allow about an hour afterwards if you are using one before something that matters. Chamber owners follow a structured journey instead, described on the Method page.
